A response from the Presbyterian Church in Canada
The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation has released news that the unidentified graves of 215 children have been found on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in Kamloops, B.C.
The PCC, in consultation with the National Indigenous Ministries Council, has prepared a statement and prayer to lament and honour the lives of those children. Together, we grieve with the Indigenous community along with all those who have lost family, friends or community members to Indian Residential Schools—for whom this news brings devastating pain, trauma and loss.
